So, the Coalition has announced what amounts to a stimulus package for the Indonesian boat building and fishing industry, reminiscent of the US Cash for Clunkers car industry rescue package. Being sold as a way of stopping people smugglers, it seems destined to boost boat sales in Indonesia.
It's surprising that Coalition strategists didn't realise they were teeing up an easy target for Labor. It certainly seemed to hand Labor a news cycle win for the day. More brain farts like this could make for a close election.
