Winter at the North Pole can be cold!

It was with a little amusement that I read today of a new climate change denier meme:
With a few weeks of growth still to occur, the Arctic has blown away the previous record for ice gain this winter. This is only the third winter in history when more than 10 million km² of new ice has formed.
After a record minimum over the summer, the northern winter has set in and the sea ice is building to an annual maximum similar to that of recent years. This, of course, means that there will be a large gain from that record minimum to a low, but probably not record low, maximum. Record low minimums and record low maximums will not follow each other lock step.

How long will it be until we see this laughable argument parroted on the Letters to the Editor page of the Cairns Post? Is it too stupid for Mr Schutz and the other wingnuts?
