Woodland cockroach

Unidentified cockroach at Taylor Point
There was a time I thought of cockroaches as introduced pest species that scurry around the house at night. The family is huge and we have many native species, including the giant burrowing cockroach which has become a popular pet in some quarters.

Alas my references have not enabled me to identify this one, which I found alongside a trail at Taylor Point. I guess a book titled Identification of native cockroaches of Queensland wouldn't be a best seller.
